Akin Gump announced that Ing Loong Yang has joined the firm as a partner in its Hong Kong office.
Mr. Yang, who joins the firm from Latham & Watkins, is one of the foremost international arbitration and cross-border disputes practitioners in Hong Kong, ranked Band 1 in Chambers Greater China Region 2022 and recognized as a Leading Individual in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2022.
Mr. Yang has extensive international arbitration and complex commercial litigation experience in Asia, particularly in relation to cross-border disputes involving parties in Greater China. Among other things, Mr Yang handles complex, sensitive matters involving shareholder and joint venture disputes, technology and other licensing disputes, commercial criminal defense, FCPA investigations, private equity, as well as compliance and regulatory matters.
He has represented clients in numerous international arbitrations under the rules of a range of arbitral institutions, including CIETAC, SIAC, ICC, HKIAC and UNCITRAL, as well as in the Hong Kong courts. Mr. Yang is a solicitor-advocate of the Hong Kong courts, with full rights of audience. He is also qualified in England and Wales, Singapore and New York.
Mr. Yang is a chartered arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, with appointments (either as sole arbitrator, chair of tribunal, or party-appointed arbitrator) to many panels of the main international arbitral institutions in numerous arbitrations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul. He also takes appointments as arbitrator on panels of the main international arbitral institutions throughout Asia.
