The Washington Post has ranked Akin Gump number one in its list of best places to work in the Washington, D.C. area. The firm took the top spot in the Large Companies category of the publication’s annual Top Workplaces survey.
Conducted in partnership with the employee engagement firm Energage, LLC, more than 3,500 area companies were invited to participate. The top companies were selected based on survey responses from more than 65,500 employees on topics ranging from employee development to innovation.
Among the positive attributes highlighted by survey respondents were the firm’s sensitivity to the social climate and its position “[at] the forefront of diversity and inclusivity in big law.”
Among other efforts, the Post highlighted the firm’s diversity council for showcasing panel discussions about race and a newsletter highlighting diversity and inclusion-focused educational resources.
Speaking of this year’s results, Akin Gump Washington, D.C. office partner in charge Anthony Pierce stated, “Being ranked number one in this survey—particularly after the past 15 months of remote working—is an incredible honor that reflects the priority we place on ensuring that all of our employees feel appreciated and engaged at work. This result inspires us to continue working as hard as we can to remain a place where employees feel connected and valued.”
