Akin Gump Seminar Examines Attorney-Client Privilege Across Borders

The firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP will present Attorney-Client Privilege Across Borders. The Seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 13 at the offices of Akin Gump located at One Bryant Park in New York City.It will begin with lunch at noon and adjourn at 1:30 p.m.

Attendees will be given an overview of the issues attorneys face when clients' confidential information crosses borders into jurisdictions where privilege may be lost. The featured speaker, Jordan W. Cowman of Akin Gump, will examine the attorney-client privilege (and similar privileges) in other jurisdictions outside of the U.S. Mr. Cowman will provide details of the "hot button" issues as privileged information crosses national boundaries, including an analysis of the recent Akzo ruling and Advocate General Kokott's opinion as well as discuss strategies for maximizing privilege protection in the transnational context.
