Akin Gump lawyers and staff from offices across the firm participated in the firm’s inaugural community service day – “Akin Gump in Action” – this month. The initiative, which took place throughout the week of June 11, was held in partnership with the education nonprofit City Year.
“Akin Gump in Action” aims to provide an opportunity for firm personnel to work together to support and improve the lives of those in need within many of the local communities in which Akin Gump operates.
The focus of these inaugural events were on positively impacting the lives of children in our communities. As part of the day of service, personnel from each of the firm’s U.S. offices, along with its London office, undertook volunteer projects at area schools, playgrounds or community centers. Examples of projects include painting walls and murals, rebuilding playground equipment, and constructing bookcases, storage units and cubbies at a community center.
“Akin Gump in Action” represents part of broader efforts by the firm to assist those in need and support the communities in which firm personnel live and work through pro bono work, charitable giving and partnerships with local organizations.
