Akin Gump announces that it has helped create the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA).
The Alliance, which includes more than 125 law firms across the U.S., seeks to leverage the resources of the signatory firms in partnership with outside legal services organizations to amplify the voices of communities and individuals oppressed by racism, to better use the law to seek change that benefits communities of color, and to promote racial equity in the law.
Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith said of the LFAA’s launch, “Recent events have reaffirmed the urgent need for meaningful and lasting change, and change requires us to address the systemic issues, including laws, regulations and policies, that unjustly result in unfavorable outcomes for people of color.”

Ms. Koopersmith recently issued a letter on behalf of the firm, addressing racial injustice and the firm’s plans to help mitigate its negative impact on communities. Read it here.
