Lawyers and staff from across Akin Gump will participate again this year in the firm’s second annual community service day—“Akin Gump in Action,” held in partnership with the education nonprofit City Year. The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for firm personnel to work together to support and improve the lives of those in need within the local communities in which Akin Gump operates.
This year’s events, like last year’s, will focus on positively impacting the lives of children in the firm’s local communities. As part of the day of service, personnel from each of the firm’s U.S. offices as well as those overseas, will participate in volunteer projects at area schools, playgrounds or community centers. Examples of the work to be done include painting a sensory path in Philadelphia, building an outdoor classroom in Washington, D.C., cleaning and planting trees at a local park in Beijing, and collecting and sorting clothing donations and used furniture in Geneva.
“Akin Gump in Action” represents part of the firm’s broader efforts to assist those in need and support the communities in which firm personnel live and work, through pro bono work, charitable giving and partnerships with local organizations.
