Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE), a subsidiary of Ørsted and a leading developer of U.S. renewables, has announced it has acquired a 103 MW construction-ready wind project in Butte County, South Dakota. LCE, which was advised by Akin Gump, purchased the project from Pattern Energy Group. The project is expected to come online in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Combined with its Plum Creek wind farm in Nebraska, planned for construction in 2020, this acquisition by LCE further expands its operations into the Southwest Power Pool market.
Andrea Lucan, a partner in Akin Gump’s global project finance practice, led the team advising LCE. She was joined by global project finance partners John Marciano, who co-heads the practice, and Thomas Dupuis and associates Nolan Thomas and Matt Smith; environment and natural resources senior counsel Andrew Oelz; tax counsel Brandon Morris; and energy regulation, markets and enforcement senior counsel Porter Wiseman.
