The University of Texas School of Law has scheduled its annual two-day Advanced Texas Administrative Law Seminar on Thursday and Friday, September 2 and 3, at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Thursday and from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
A variety of subjects and speakers will be offered, including an overview of the sunset process, new criminal history issues in the licensing process, when you cross the line between providing information and lobbying when it comes to the state legislature, and pro bono lawyering. Thursday's luncheon presenter, Hon. Cathleen Parsley, State Office of Administrative Hearings, will cover News from SOAH, and Claude E. Ducloux, Hill, Ducloux, Carnes & de la Garza, will present an ethics jeopardy game.
On Friday, Dudley D. McCalla, Jackson Walker L.L.P., will discuss rulemaking and rule challenges, and Steven Baron, Consulting and Legal Services, will look at appealing administrative agency action: he will discuss suits that have succeeded and those that have not and suggest factors to consider before deciding to challenge agency action.
A judge's panel moderated by Hon. Suzanne Marshall, State Office of Administrative Hearings, will end the program.
