ACI Plans Fall Wage And Hour Forum

The American Conference Institute has planned a forum this fall titled Wage Hour Claims and Class Actions on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 20 and 21.

It will run from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Workshop A, a Wage and Hour Caselaw Primer, will be held on Monday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Workshop B, Wage and Hour Litigation: Focus on the Hotbed of California, will run from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Highlights of the forum include a view from the plaintiffs' bar: adjusting litigation strategies in light of new and innovative wage and hour claims; federal and state wage and hour initiatives; employee misclassification; winning the class certification battle and clarifying what is needed to get classes approved/ denied; expert witnesses in wage and hour litigation: selection and permissible use of expert testimony; and ADR: making the ADR decision and assessing structure and administration considerations of settlement, arbitration and mediation.

Among the speakers are Eric Rood, assistant chief, California Labor Commissioner's Office; Susana Rincon, district director, U.S. Department of Labor; Mark E. Tabakman, Fox Rothschild LLP; Matthew W. Lampe, Jones Day; and Theodore Lee, Littler Mendelson PC. ACI has assembled a large in-house faculty for this event, including speakers from Fidelity Investments, Microsoft, FedEx, 3M, State Farm, Wells Fargo, and Western Union.
