ACI NYC Seminar Examines Drug And Medical Device Litigation

The American Conference Institute is offering a three-day conference on Drug and Medical Device Litigation. It runs Tuesday through Thursday, December 7 to 9, at the Millennium Broadway Hotel, 145 West 44th Street in New York City.

The schedule is day one, 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., day two, 8:15 a.m. until 4:15 p.m., and day three, 8:15 a.m. until adjournment at 5:00 p.m.

The drug and device industries face a landscape that has been complicated by a reinvigorated FDA and by high-profile federal and state enforcement actions. Matters relating to manufacturing issues and product recalls, as well as government probes into both pre-market and post-marketing practices, are emerging frequently in civil litigation. Also, a difficult economy has caused manufacturers and their outside counsel to seek more cost-effective ways to handle product liability litigation. Attendees will be given tips and updates on the best ways to handle drug and medical device litigation.

Participants will hear from keynote speakers Ralph Tyler, chief counsel of the FDA, and the Honorable John G.Heyburn II, chairman, U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.

Other speakers and presenters include Andrew T. Bayman, King & Spalding LLP; Mary Eaton, Willkie, Farr & Gallagher LLP; Lauren Freemen-Bosworth, Merck & Co., Inc.; Ralph S. Tyler, chief counsel, FDA; and Monique Hunt McWilliams, assistant general counsel, Eli Lilly and Company.
