Shannon M. Kasley has joined McGuireWoods’ global litigation practice as a partner in Washington, D.C., bringing 25 years of experience representing multinational companies in commercial and civil litigation and appeals, including clients in the oil and gas industry.
Kasley represents oil and gas companies in multiparty and multidistrict litigation, including commercial disputes; fraud claims; sensitive environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues; antitrust matters; product liability, mass tort and environmental cases; and challenges to regulatory and administrative actions. He has counseled clients in all phases of litigation, appearing before trial and appellate courts, administrative bodies and arbitration panels throughout the country.
In addition, Kasley has advised corporate clients and individuals in civil and criminal investigations conducted by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Internal Revenue Service, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the FBI, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command and numerous state attorneys general. He joins McGuireWoods from King & Spalding.

Kasley’s arrival enhances the firm’s formidable litigation bench in D.C. Notable additions in 2022 include Brian Baltz, a former SEC attorney who joined the securities litigation and enforcement team; Ben O’Neil, a former federal prosecutor with experience in international anti-corruption matters; and Jeff Ehrlich, former deputy enforcement director at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
