ACC To Present Corporate Counsel University

Join the Association of Corporate Counsel as they host their annual Corporate Counsel University.This three-day event will be held Sunday, May 23 through Tuesday, May 25 at the Hyatt Regency, 1 South Capital Avenue in Indianapolis.

This program was developed for in-house counsel who may need to sharpen their basic in-house practice skills on topics ranging from negotiation and contracts to finance and ethics. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from experienced corporate counsel practical information they can take back to the office and put into practice.

The program starts with a networking reception on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. On Monday, sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday's breakout sessions include establishing your role as general counsel and setting up a legal department, and employment law for in-house counsel. In the afternoon, how to cope with being a generalist and managing e-discovery and planning for litigation and fraud - how to detect and deter - will also be offered.

On Tuesday, breakout sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Topics include finance and accounting for in-house counsel; the ACC Value Challenge;tools to prove your department's worth; protecting your client's intellectual property;and how to set up compliance programs.

The speakers will include Susanna McDonald, associate general counsel, and Susan Hackett, vice president and general counsel of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and Stephen Chitwood, professor & faculty director, GW University Law Firm Management Master's Program, George Washington University.
