ACC Houston Schedules Luncheon For Corporate Counsel

On Tuesday, October 11, Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP will join ACC Houston to present Corporate Counsel in the Crosshairs.

It will run from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Maggianos Little Italy, 2019 Post Oak Blvd. in Houston.

At this chapter meeting, Gardere partner Tom Hagemann will lead a discussion of a case involving Lauren Stevens, associate general counsel for GlaxoSmithKline, who was indicted on six counts of obstruction and making false statements in a Food & Drug Administration investigation. She was put to trial, and in May of this year, she was acquitted by district court judge Titus, who commented that she never should have been prosecuted. Mr. Hagemann, who leads Gardere's white collar crime group, will lead a discussion about how corporate counsel can carry out their obligations to their clients and at the same time guard against becoming the target of an investigation. He will discuss scenarios that are likely to lead to the prosecution of corporate counsel and actions they can take to avoid prosecution.
