ACC Covers Basics At Corporate Counsel University In New Orleans

The Association of Corporate Counsel has chosen New Orleans as the site for its two-day Corporate Counsel University.

It will run from Sunday to Tuesday, May 15 to 17, at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel in New Orleans. An opening reception will begin the program on Sunday at 5:30. On Monday the program will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Tuesday it will run from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Developed for attorneys who are new to in-house or who want to sharpen their basic in-house practice skills, ACC's Corporate Counsel University will feature experienced corporate counsel faculty who will offer practical information that can be used immediately; the chance to earn up to 12 CLE /CPD credit hours including ethics; and networking opportunities.

Topics to be covered include drafting, negotiating and administering contracts; an introduction to corporate litigation; tech solutions for the law department; global import and export controls; effective compliance programs to manage risk; social media: the new rules of engagement; protecting a client's intellectual property; ACC value challenge: how to control costs and establish value-based relationships with outside counsel; and adding value through strategic planning.
