ACC Brings Mini MBA To The West Coast

ACC-SoCal is sponsoring the Mini MBA for In-house Counsel Tuesday through Thursday, April 21 to 23, at 5700 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 675, Los Angeles.

The seminar will run from 1 to 6 p.m. on day one, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. on day two, and from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on day three.

With the collapse of financial institutions and upheaval in the global economy, the role of corporate in-house counsel has changed and requires an in-depth understanding of a business and its operations and the ability to make critical recommendations about substantial risk.Attendees will learn to better understand financial statements and financial tools to value all or part of a business and the impact of decisions on the strategic and marketing goals of a business. They will learn to effectively manage work relationships and develop methods for minimizing the risks of decision-making.

Participants are seasoned lawyers from a variety of backgrounds. They will work with a select group of master teachers who are both academics and professionals. Among the faculty are Jack McCarthy, DBA, a teacher and researcher who will discuss managing people and diagnosing work relationships and teach how to lead high-performance teams across functions and departments;Michael Smith, who holds a Ph.D. in accounting and will teach the basic concepts of financial accounting and how you identify red flags that signal financial difficulties or accounting problems; and Melvyn Menezes, a management educator and consultant who will examine how companies develop and implement a corporate strategy.
