ACC Annual Meeting To Be Held In Denver

The ACC Annual Meeting will take place in Denver this year, from Sunday October 23 to Wednesday October 26 at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street in Downtown Denver.

Participants may build a customized schedule from more than 100 CLE/CPD sessions, including such relevant topics as contract negotiations, Dodd-Frank, social media, risk management, proxy access, managing global IP, creating a paperless environment in your legal operation, doing business with financially troubled companies, executive compensation disclosure, corporate law in the Middle East, executive compensation clawbacks, how to work effectively with your marketing department for brand and trademark development, the impact of the new UK Bribery Act on American companies, ethics in negotiations, wearing two hats -counsel and compliance officer, hot issues in international M&A, an SEC update, trends in healthcare litigation, protection of IP with a focus on trade secrets, and the legal department as profit center. Various tracks include ACC, International, Contracts and Negotiations, Employment and Labor, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, Compliance and Ethics, Updates, Corporate and Securities, Intellectual Property, Finance, Law Department Management, Technology, and Environment and Energy. There are also three skill levels, from basic and intermediate to advanced.

In keeping with ACC's emphasis on managing legal costs, the following courses are among the offerings: Outside Counsel Management - Using Value-Based Fee Structures for Litigation; Using Value-Based Fee Structures for Corporate/Transactional Work; Project Management for Small Law Department Leaders; and the ACC Value Challenge Clinic. On Monday, ACC's Chair Choice - Corporate Counsel under Scrutiny: Liability for Corporate Misconduct - will be moderated by ACC Chair J. Alberto Gonzalez-Pita. Mr. Pita will provide an overview of the pitfalls and practice strategies you should consider if you work in a company that might be subject to intense scrutiny in the event of a failure.

On Tuesday, the lunch program is a Conversation with Coleman Mayes, executive vice president and general counsel for Allstate Insurance Company and co-author of Courageous Counsel: Conversations with Women General Counsel in the Fortune 500.

The meeting opens with registration on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and it ends on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. CLE tracks run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A reception has been scheduled from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
