The New York County Lawyers’ Association will present a special CLE program on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. The title of the program is “Advice from More Experts: More Successful Strategies for Winning Commercial Cases in New York State Courts.” The format is exciting, the speakers are accomplished, and all registrants will receive a copy of the critically acclaimed six-volume treatise Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts, published by NYCLA and Thomson Reuters, and a CD-ROM containing forms and jury instructions – a $660.00 retail value. This program is the 2013 version of the highly successful CLE program on commercial litigation in New York State Courts which the New York County Lawyers’ Association presented on May 4, 2012. This year’s program features new topics and new faculty.
At the program, an extraordinary panel of seven distinguished judges, 31 well‑known commercial litigators, and six prominent in-house counsel for major corporations will provide practical advice and strategies for winning commercial cases in New York State courts. The program will begin with discussion of the effective handling of dispositive motions. The next topic will be document discovery. The program includes discussion of mediation and arbitration as well as ethical issues in commercial cases. Also covered will be selection of experts and expert testimony. Trials and appeals to the Appellate Division will be discussed in detail. The program concludes with insights into the client’s expectations, preferences and requirements.
This program will use an exciting, interactive format. The speakers will focus on strategies and practical advice for maximizing the effectiveness of each stage of the litigation. In particular, they will discuss techniques for advancing a client’s interests as well as potential pitfalls or traps for the unwary.

As noted above, all registrants at the program will receive the critically acclaimed six-volume treatise Commercial Litigation in New York State Courts. This publication was written by 144 outstanding attorneys and judges throughout New York State and provides everything needed to handle commercial cases, from initial assessment, through pleadings, discovery, motions, trial and appeal. Great emphasis is placed on strategic considerations specific to commercial cases. Sample forms are provided as well as procedural checklists.
