Program Will Offer Women AdviceOn Strengthening Negotiation Skills

Do you feel your negotiation skills can be improved? Are you as effective at the negotiation table or in day-to-day negotiation as you would like to be?

The Association of the Bar of the City of New York this month will help attorneys answer these questions in a CLE seminar titled Women in Negotiation: Practical Tips to Strengthen Your Negotiation Skills (for You & Your Clients).

The program will take place on Tuesday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at the House of the Association, 42 West 44th Street, New York City.

The program will provide women with practical tips on how to prepare for negotiation and identify the most important aspects of persuading someone else to agree. It also will expose gender-specific behaviors that undermine power in negotiation and teach women to equalize perceived power imbalances.

Attendees will learn how to apply these skills to every day situations, as well as learn how to use negotiating opportunities to continually improve skills. The program also will explore the parameters of ethics in negotiation. Men are encouraged to attend.

Serving as program chair is Deborah Masucci, director of dispute resolution in the Litigation Management Department, AIG. Panelists will include Cynthia Weiss Antonucci, Harris Beach PLLC; Jamie A. Levit, Morrison & Foerster LLP; Pamela S. Poff, senior vice president and deputy general counsel, UBS Financial Services Inc.; Margaret L. Shaw, JAMS, and theHon. Elizabeth S. Stong, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York.
