Mr. Kelly joined Delta at its founding in 2011 and has played an integral role in Delta’s development into a prominent litigation finance firm. As General Counsel, Drew oversees several pivotal business functions including the negotiation and drafting of litigation financing and operational contracts; engaging and managing third-party legal counsel in connection with investments and legal affairs; ensuring regulatory, contractual and ethical compliance; managing Delta’s employment and human resources functions. Drew also provides key assistance in the sourcing, due diligence, structuring, and monitoring of investments.

Formerly an attorney in the Corporate & Finance Transactions Group of K&L Gates LLP focusing particularly on formation, offering, M&A, securities and investment transactions involving hedge, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and managed futures funds, as well as investors and advisors to such funds, and public and private companies. Previously, Mr. Kelly served as a legal clerk for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, where Mr. Kelly assisted trial teams with the investigation, discovery, and litigation phases of Commission enforcement actions against investment fund managers, promoters and other persons and entities that were accused of investment fraud, among other violations of applicable laws.

Craig Weiner is known for his calm, strategic insight in high-stakes and crisis management situations. His practice encompasses the litigation and strategic planning issues faced by corporations, high-net worth individuals, investment banks, private equity/hedge funds, and venture companies. Mr. Weiner is often called upon for crisis management and is particularly experienced in creating novel solutions for complex problems. Mr. Weiner has extensive experience practicing internationally and has worked closely with clients in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam. He possesses extensive venture capital and private equity experience, and has worked closely with domestic and foreign hedge funds, venture companies, high-net worth individuals, and government funds. Mr. Weiner also has extensive experience with and has written articles on judgment enforcement and asset seizures. His practice includes high-stakes employment and harassment litigation, professional malpractice, and bankruptcy and reorganization, having previously served as debtor's authorized representative and lead counsel in adversary proceedings. Mr. Weiner provides guidance to his clients with respect to high-stakes litigation and contentious negotiations as well as helping to facilitate joint ventures, strategic alliances, government grants, and conducting online commerce. Mr. Weiner has also assisted publicly traded and private clients in first and second-round financings. He has extensive contract drafting/negotiating ability as well as in-depth experience assisting clients in raising private equity, venture capital, and institutional money.

Mr. Carmel is a member of the firm’s Business Restructuring Services Department residing in the Chicago office (with clients located throughout the United States). He has two decades of experience representing public and private companies, private equity and other investment firms, directors and executives, lenders, committees, and equityholders in a variety of distress and non-distress engagements. Mr. Carmel regularly advises clients regarding strategic alternatives, including: out-of-court and in court restructurings and bankruptcies; mergers and acquisitions, refinancings, recapitalizations, and sales; and fiduciary duties and governance matters throughout the United States and internationally. Whenever necessary, he assists his clients with commercial litigation in insolvency matters.

Mr. Carmel is also the Co-Head of McDonald Hopkins’ Litigation Finance Group. He formed the group to capitalize on his extensive experience in the litigation finance industry.

Mr. Carmel is a frequent author and speaker on restructuring topics, with a focus on fiduciary duties, acquisitions of distressed assets, and cutting edge strategies and tactics to address bankruptcy issues. He also writes and speaks about litigation finance.

Prior to joining McDonald Hopkins, Mr. Carmel led representations in restructurings and bankruptcies at two major international law firms and was the leader of a litigation finance firm’s involvement in the bankruptcy and restructuring sector. Mr. Carmel worked for a large national accounting firm before attending law school and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Mr. Carmel earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and his Masters of Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from the University of Michigan.
