'Sophisticated Licensing Issues'Slated In April At Suffolk University Law School

The licensing of intellectual property is the chief means of transferring value in the information-based economy. For attorneys eager to learn more about this emerging area of law, Suffolk University Law School and the Boston Patent Lawyers Association early this month have scheduled a seminar titled Sophisticated Licensing Issues.

The program will take place on Friday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Suffolk University Law School, 120 Tremont Street, Boston.

The program will examine the most essential and least understood terms of licensing agreements key to the success of high-tech companies. Taught by leading experts in the field of licensing intellectual property, this course will provide state-of-the-art knowledge about types of licensing agreements, tips for negotiating key terms and sure-footed guidance on pricing, regulatory and international issues.

The instructors will clearly explain the intricacies of technology licensing with an emphasis on key sectors: patented software, biotech patented materials, university licenses.

Among the speakers are Andrew Beckerman-Rodau, co-director of intellectual property law concentration, Suffolk University Law School; Maryanne G. Fenerjian, licensing manager, Office of Technology Licensing, Harvard Medical School; Mary J. Hildebrand, Goodwin Procter LLP; Karin K. Rivard, assistant director and counsel, MIT Technology Licensing Office, and Jonathan Zittrain, professor, Harvard Law School.
