Seminar Will Outline Pro Bono Opportunities

The Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel next month will host a CLE seminar titled Pro Bono Work by In-House Counsel: Models and Ethical Considerations.

The program, co-sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York State Bar Associations President's Committee on Access to Justice, is set for Thursday, June 9.

The session will feature speakers Carol Bockner, director of the Pro Bono Initiatives of the City Bar Fund, who will discuss Models for In-House Pro Bono Work; Kwanza Butler, director of the Public Service Network of the City Bar Fund, who will examine Opportunities for Pro Bono Work by In-House Counsel; Madeleine Schacter, deputy general counsel, Time Warner, who will review Launching an In-House Pro Bono Program, and Stephen Gillers, Emily Kempin Professor of Law, New York University School of Law, who will cover Ethical Issues in Pro Bono Representation by In-House Counsel.

The event also will feature presentation of the NY ACCA Pro Bono Award by Thomas C. Baxter Jr., general counsel and executive vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and NY ACCA president, to the Time Warner Legal Departments, Paul T. Cappuccio, executive vice president and general counsel, Time Warner, and Ms. Schacter.

The program will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at the University Club, One West 54th Street, New York City. A cocktail reception will follow from 6 to 7 p.m.
