Laura Proctor Elected First Vice President of 22,000-Member DRI

On October 18, Laura E. Proctor of Nashville, Tennessee was elected first vice president of DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar at the organization's annual meeting in Chicago. With 22,000 members, the 50-year old DRI is one of the three largest professional organizations of attorneys in the country and the largest to exclusively represent defense bar attorneys. Ms. Proctor will be the first in-house counsel to serve as DRI president when she ascends to that position in October, 2015.

Ms. Proctor is the associate general counsel with Louisiana-Pacific Corporation in Nashville, Tennessee where she oversees and manages litigation, focusing on product liability, employment law and general tort matters.

Ms. Proctor served on DRI's Executive Committee as secretary/treasurer from 2010-2012 and second vice president from 2012-2013. She has been a member of its board of directors since 2007 and is active in several DRI committees including DRI's Corporate Counsel Committee of which she is a founding member. She has also been Committee Chair for DRI's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and DRI's Young Lawyers Committee.

Ms. Proctor serves on the board of directors at Oasis Center in Nashville, which provides at-risk youth a connection to a caring adult, a safe and secure environment, and empowerment to make better choices.
