CO Bar Covers Advertising Law In Full-Day Session

On Friday, September 9, the Colorado Bar Association has scheduled Advertising Law in 2011.

It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the CLECI Large Classroom, 1900 Grant Street in Denver.

Legal professionals from the Federal Trade Commission and the Colorado Attorney General's Office, national business experts, and nationally known private practitioners will explain truth-in-advertising laws. Program highlights include priorities from the Colorado Attorney General's Office; an FTC update; substantiating advertising claims, including health claims and green guides; an update on the use of social media for advertising; a copyright and trademark primer for non-IP attorneys; and competitive issues, including the Lanham Act and the National Advertising Division.

The FTC update will be presented by Lesley Anne Fair, senior attorney, Bureau of Consumer Protection. The update on the use of social media for advertising will be presented by Edward Chansky, Greenberg Traurig and by John E. Villafranco, Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, and competitive issues will be discussed by David G. Mallen, deputy director for legal affairs, National Advertising Division, Council of Business Bureaus and by Amy Ralph Mudge, Arnold & Porter LLP.
