ACCA So-Cal To Review Insurance Issues

In a West LA Roundtable titled Insurance? It Is Not Just for Litigators and General Counsel! What Every Pro-Active In-House Lawyer Must Know, the ACC Southern California chapter will provide practical guidance about how practitioners can protect their companies.

Scheduled for Wednesday, May 18, the event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at eHarmony, 2401 Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica.

Insurance experts from Dickstein Shapiro will cover how to handle the following important issues: avoiding the waiver of the attorney-client privilege when an insurer is involved - how to best protect privilege when an insurer has reserved rights, denied coverage, or, in a litigation setting, is not currently defending its insured;time traps and procedural hurdles - how to know when you have insurance coverage andhow you make sure you don't lose it; an insurer's duty to pay defense fees - how to work with insurance billing guidelines, hourly rate limits and other insurer attacks on the reasonableness of attorney's fees; and dealing with disasters - how to preserve and maximize insurance when unexpected events occur, like the Japanese earthquake and tsunami or the political unrest in the Middle East.
