ACC Annual Meeting To OfferOpportunity For Pro Bono Involvement

A key feature of this year's Annual Meeting of the Association of Corporate Counsel-America (ACC) will be the seventh annual Onsite Pro Bono Clinic conducted under the auspices of CorporateProBono.Org

Participants will be given training, for which they will receive CLE credit, from national experts on the legal needs on nonprofit organizations. Participants will then team up with their peers from the training to guide representatives of Chicago-area nonprofits through a "legal checkup" exercise.

ACC's 2004 Annual Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 24 through Wednesday, October 27 at the Sheraton Chicago, 301 East North Water Street, Chicago.

Activities will begin with a welcome reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the first day. CLE activities will run from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on day two, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on day three and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on day four.

A highlight of the conference will be the Chair's Forum set for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday under the theme Wearing More Hats Than a Hydra Has Heads - In-House Practitioners in Today's Corporate Environment ... Anticipating the Challenges and Meeting the Demands in Today's Corporate Practice.

Forum panelists will be Brackett Denniston, General Electric; Robert J. Grey, president of the American Bar Association; Sara L. Hays and Kirk A. Rose, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and James R. Jenkins, Deere & Company.

Also on Monday, the luncheon speaker will be Deborah Ackerman, vice president and general counsel at Southwest Airlines, who will address the topic What Would a Law Department Look Like If It Were Run Like Southwest Airlines?

To help attendees make their CLE decisions easier, the conference has scheduled repeat sessions of many of the more popular CLE sessions.
