Ben Bedi has joined the Palo Alto, CA office of K&L Gates as a partner in its intellectual property litigation practice. Mr. Bedi comes to the firm from Dechert LLP.

Mr. Bedi's practice focuses on patent litigation and the strategic development of intellectual property assets. His litigation experience includes cases in U.S. District Courts both inside and outside California and at the International Trade Commission, which is a growing area of activity for K&L Gates.

Fredric C. Tausend of K&L Gates was honored at the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference as the recipient of the prestigious 2007 John P. Frank Award, recognizing his nearly 50-year legal career as an outstanding lawyer practicing in the federal courts of the western United States.

Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP (K&L Gates) has appointed diversity strategist Richard Jones as the firm's Director of Diversity (U.S.).

Mr. Jones, a former practicing lawyer and legal educator, has spent the past decade collaborating with clients of a California-based diversity consulting firm to develop business-focused, comprehensive diversity programs.

At K&L Gates, Mr. Jones will lead the promotion of the firm's diversity recruitment and retention goals. Mr. Jones will carry out these programs alongside K&L Gates' Diversity Committee and under the direction of the firm's chief officer of human relations.
