Corporate Directors Laud Akin Gump

For the seventh consecutive year, corporate directors have recognized Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP as one of America's top 20 law firms, according to a recent survey compiled by Corporate Board Member magazine ("America's Best Corporate Law Firms," July/August 2007).

The survey asked directors of publicly traded companies nationwide to identify the law firms they most admire, nationally and in 25 metropolitan areas. In addition to being lauded as one of the top 20 law firms nationally, Akin Gump was once again named as a leader in the Dallas legal market. In a separate survey, general counsel named Akin Gump as one of the 20 law firms they would most want to represent their companies on national matters.

"Doing well in our survey has become a singular badge of honor, for the very reason that it doesn't come from the law firms' peers," said William S. Rukeyser, editorial director of Corporate Board Member. "It's an accolade from their customers - the directors, executives and general counsel who hire them."

Robert Huffman and Peter Hutt have joined Akin Gump as partners in the litigation practice in Washington. Mr. Huffman and Mr. Hutt represent defense contractors, health care systems, technology companies, and construction companies on the full spectrum of government contracts issues, ranging from advice on IP, technology transfer, and cost issues, to representation in bid protests, FOIA disputes, and contract disputes. Both have extensive experience in representing contractors in Civil False Claims Act lawsuits and other procurement fraud matters, and have served as counsel in more than 20 such matters.

Mr. Huffman serves as chair of the Procurement Fraud Committee and the Research and Development/Intellectual Property Committee of the ABA Public Contract Section. He also serves on the advisory council of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and served as president of the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association. Mr. Hutt is the former chair of the Procurement Fraud Committee of the ABA Public Contract Section and serves on the board of the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
