Siskind To Be HonoredAs Proskauer Recipient

Arthur M. Siskind, group general counsel of News Corporation, will be honored by more than 600 of his peers in the legal community at UJA-Federation of New York's Judge Joseph M. Proskauer Event hosted by the organization's Lawyer's Division.

The event takes place on Thursday, December 2 at the Grand Hyatt New York, Park Avenue at Grand Central, New York City.

The guest speaker and award presenter is Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive officer, News Corporation.

The Judge Joseph M. Proskauer Award is UJA-Federation's most prestigious award that is presented to a member of the legal community. Since 1959, this honor has ben given annually to an individual who is committed to philanthropy and whose conduct and service exemplify the highest ideals of the law.

The Proskauer Event, which will begin at 6 p.m., will include hors d'ouevres, cocktails and a dessert reception. The program will begin at 7 p.m. In the spirit of helping those in need, participants have chosen to forgo their meals, donating their dinners to feed those in need at area agencies during the holiday season. Volunteers form the Lawyers' Division will serve donated meals to seniors at the Selfhelp Community Services' Nazi Victims Services Program at Congregation Habonim on New York's Upper West Side on December 8.

Jeremy H. Temkin of Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason & Silberberg, P.C. will receive the James H. Fogelson Young Leadership Award for a deep commitment to the Jewish community, service to the UJA-Federation, and demonstrated potential for Jewish communal leadership.

The program includes a special tribute to Joseph S. Allerhand of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, the Lawyers' Division's outgoing chair.

The Proskauer Event chairs are Kenneth Bialkin of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and David J. Stern, commissioner of the National Basketball Association, both former Proskauer Award recipients. Alan Levine of Kronish Lieb Weiner & Hellman LLP is general chair of the Lawyers' Division.
