Energy Attorneys Join Torys LLP

Two widely recognized power and energy regulatory attorneys with decades of experience in the power, electricity and natural gas industries have joined Torys LLP in the firm's New York-based Energy and Power Group.

"Our new partners Buz Barclay and Andrew Schifrin bring a distinguished record of advising clients in energy-related businesses and in all regulatory and commercial aspects of the power industry," said Charles E. (Trip) Dorkey III, the managing partner of Torys' New York office."

Associate Adam Sheinkin also brings special expertise in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission practice in the power industry and in LNG Import Terminal Applications.

All three join Torys from King & Spalding's New York office.

Mr. Barclay has worked extensively in the U.S. and Canada, and has advised developers and financial advisers on project structuring and development in the People's Republic of China, Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and throughout the Americas. He has represented developers, owners and operators, suppliers, marketers, investors, banks and financial institutions, as well as large industrial and commercial energy consumers. Mr. Barclay founded two leading energy industry conferences: the Energy Venture Fair, now in its fifth edition, and the Power Industry Forum, which he has chaired for ten years.

Mr. Schifrin, a frequent lecturer on power industry topics, represents a broad range of clients in the energy industry. He provides advice and legal assistance regarding energy industry transactional, regulatory and litigation matters.
