To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel :

Last month, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) approved the Lehigh Valley as part of the Delaware Valley Chapter (DELVACCA) territory, which covers southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. We also welcome our newest board member, Doug Brown, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Air Products. Doug also serves on DELVACCA's membership committee representing the Lehigh Valley. The board of DELVACCA welcomed Lehigh Valley corporate counsel at a well-attended networking and CLE event held the evening of February 28th in Allentown. More events are planned for the Lehigh Valley.

To be sure, the role of corporate counsel is ever-dynamic and continually expanding in complexity and breadth of legal issues. Operating as we do at the intersection of business and law is a unique position that demands unique qualities and ready access to critical resources and information. This is where ACC and DELVACCA deliver. ACC now has in excess of 20,000 members from around the world. And DELVACCA is a leading ACC chapter having some 830 members representing about 400 companies located in the region.

Entering its 25th year, DELVACCA is the leading source of high-quality, substantive CLE programs presented at various locations. Just a few of our acclaimed programs include:

• The annual General Counsel Forum, a standout event, is a half-day seminar for CLOs and senior managing counsel featuring prominent authorities on major cutting-edge issues, such as erosion of attorney-client privilege in corporate investigations;

• The annual Corporate Counsel University - a series of important substantive subjects to enhance the skills of corporate counsel;

• The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Institute - designed specifically to enhance the skills of the corporate law department staff to meet their expanding roles.

The chapter's successful networking events provide unique and invaluable access to fellow in-house professionals and service providers facilitating an exchange of best practices.Examples are the Meet Your Counterparts event, held in September, the Spring Fling, held at a prominent cultural site, and the annual election dinner (last held in November 2006, the keynote speaker was the Hon. Dick Thornburgh). This year the Spring Fling will be held on June 14 at the Franklin Institute to coincide with the King Tut exhibit. This is certain to be a popular event so be sure to reserve early!

DELVACCA also offers various working and substantive committees that provide unparalleled benefits to members, such as: In-Transition, Litigation, Corporate and Securities, Employment and Labor, Ethics and Compliance, and Intellectual Property.

For more details about the vast array of resources available through ACC and DELVACCA, go to our website at www.acca.com/php/chapters/index.php?chapter=del. Also, feel free to contact me or any of the other board members for information on how you can get involved in our various programs and committees.
