Letter From The President Of The Central Pennsylvania Chapter Of The Association Of Corporate Counsel

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

Our chapter is very excited about our second year of participation with the StreetLaw Diversity Pipeline Project. Our volunteer attorneys work with high school students from York, Milton Hersey and Harrisburg to enrich the StreetLaw classroom experience and encourage disadvantaged urban high school students to consider law and law related careers.

In recognition of our work with the project, our chapter was awarded ACC's prestigious Diversity Award in October 2004. Additionally, we won a grant from ACC to work with StreetLaw to create a manual on how to organize similar Diversity Pipeline programs for other organizations. In conjunction with the Harrisburg Black Attorneys Association, we have begun fund raising efforts to award scholarships to outstanding students.

To help our members to network with each other, our chapter hosts quarterly CLE and networking events and schedules lunches in local areas (e.g. York, Lancaster, Harrisburg, Hershey) in between the CLE events. On April 8, Hershey Foods Corporation is graciously hosting a tour of the Milton Hershey School and lunch for in-house counsel. For more information about this and other programs, visit our chapter's web pages at www.acca.com.

Our chapter's low-cost programs and services would not be available to our members without the generous support of our sponsors. We'd like to thank our premier sponsors Saul Ewing and McNees and our gold sponsors Cricket, Wolf Block and Barley Snyder.
