Letter From The President Of The South Florida Chapter Of The Association Of Corporate Counsel - America

2004-12-01 00:00

To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

As we look back at our Chapter's events this year, we can do so with a sense of accomplishment. Our calendar was packed with informative programs, special events, community service activities, networking opportunities and more! We tried to provide all of our members with a choice of events we hoped would be of interest to our diverse membership. During this year, many of us experienced business interruptions with the numerous hurricanes that hit Florida this season, but we have survived. As a result of these hurricanes, we postponed our Corporate Counsel Institute until early next year.

We will end our event calendar on December 3 with our annual Ethics Seminar-Holiday Reception with Dean Nancy Rapoport from the Houston School of Law. Dean Rapoport will present her nationally famous program, "Images of Lawyers in Film." The light-hearted and highly interactive discussion with video clips of popular movies will be followed by a holiday inspired selection of foods and wine. A sincere thanks to our sponsor, Robert Half Legal, for making this event possible.

At the close of the ethics seminar, our Chapter will present our outstanding local leaders with our annual Pro Bono/Community Service Award and the Leadership Award. This year we are extremely pleased to honor two Chapter members for their tireless efforts in the area of Pro Bono/Community Service with our Pro Bono/Community Service AwardÑ Linda Kleinman, Director, Chief Division Counsel for Southeast Toyota Distributors, and Caren Williams, Assistant Vice President & Chief Division Counsel for JM Family Enterprises, Inc.

We are also pleased to honor Past President, Jim Patton, General Counsel for New England Tech, for his numerous years of leadership in the areas of Chapter and Board development with the Chapter's Leadership Award. A sincere thanks to our sponsors, Meritas and the law firm of Richman Greer Weil Brumbaugh Mirabito & Christensen P.A., for these awards.

I feel privileged to have served as your President during this past year. It was wonderful meeting many of you at the events. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I thank you and appreciate your kind words of praise for the seminars and events you enjoyed.

I encourage all of you to get involved in our Chapter's committees. Get involved with the development, growth and future success of our Chapter and ACC. I promise you, you will enjoy the enormous benefits and advantages of being a more active member of ACC South Florida.

I want all of you to reserve March 12, 2005 , on your calendar for our "One Night Under the Sea" Event! You will be hearing a lot about it in the months ahead.

Wishing you the best in 2005!

Sincerely, Arlene Finkelstein
