To The Readers Of The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel:

As the incoming president of the Wisconsin Chapter of The Association of Corporate Counsel ("WisACCA"), I want to thank our outgoing president Patty Hanz for her years of service on the board. Under Patty's leadership, our annual May "mini-conference" at The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake has become our centerpiece event that continues to provide CLE credit focused specifically on the needs and concerns of in-house counsel.

In September, we will be hosting a speaker from the national ACC, who will be presenting on the Dodd-Frank whistleblower provisions and how ACC is working on behalf of its members to address the challenges arising from this law. In addition, in November, we will conduct our popular three-hour ethics CLE. As always, our goal is to present topics that matter to in-house lawyers in ways that are practical and relevant.

In addition to CLE presentations, WisACCA continues to look for opportunities to contribute to our communities and support lawyers who make that commitment. Two ways we have done this in the past are to promote pro bono opportunities that may be of interest to our members and to identify resources that provide information that relates to our unique circumstances (for example, the lack of malpractice insurance and potential conflict issues). For those of us who serve on nonprofit boards, I would like to highlight an organization called BoardStar, Inc. This organization provides valuable resources to nonprofit boards, including free podcasts on over 100 topics visit (www.BoardStar.org).

If you are interested in a purely social event for the entire family, our annual Brewers outing will take place on June 26. More information on all of our events can be found on the chapter website (www.acc.com/chapters/wisc).

Finally, I encourage WisACCA members to get involved in the organization. Over the past few years, we have expanded our board to include members from outside of the Milwaukee area to better serve members throughout Wisconsin. If you are outside of Milwaukee and are interested in hosting a WisACCA event, we would love to hear from you.
