The meeting begins on Thursday with a point/counterpoint discussion of the political landscape by Ambassador Karen Hughes and Dee Dee Myers, both having worked for President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton, respectively. The timely debate, two weeks before the presidential election, will be informative. The Awards Luncheon will feature speaker Roy Blount, Jr., writer, humorist and a familiar voice on National Public Radio’s Wait Wait. Don’t Tell Me. Friday’s keynote speaker is internationally acclaimed author Niall Ferguson, one of the leading historians of the global economy. His latest book, Civilization: The West and the Rest, is already an international bestseller.

Other notable speakers are Terri Morrison, author of Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands, presenting on Thursday, and Paul Sullivan, author of Clutch; and Shankar Vedantam, author of The Hidden Brain, presenting on Sunday.

There are numerous sessions offered throughout the five-day event. Some of the topics are Preserving the Attorney-Client Privilege When Communicating with Corporate Counsel; At the Intersection of International and Domestic Law – The Supreme Court to Address Corporate Liability for Violations of International Law; The Twenty-First Century Lawyer – Communicating Effectively to an Increasingly Diverse Audience; Twenty-First Century Leadership – Perspectives from a New Generation of General Counsels from Fortune 500 Companies; and SOX to Dodd-Frank – Ten years of Increased Government Enforcement and Current Trends.
