Among other developments, attendees will hear about the landmark decision in Brinker Restaurant Corp. v. Superior Court, in which the California Supreme Court finally clarified, among other things, whether employers must ensure or merely provide meal and rest breaks to non-exempt employees. Messrs. Oncidi and Friedman will also discuss Samper v. Providence St. Vincent Medical Center (whether regular attendance can be an essential job function), Rehmani v. Superior Court (providing guidance on when summary judgment is appropriate in hostile work environment cases), and Joaquin v.
