Join the District of Columbia Bar on Thursday, January 12, for a look at the Constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: The Competing Views. The event will be held at the offices of McDermott Will & Emery at 600 13th Street, NW in DC, and it begins at 5:30 and ends at 8:30 p.m.

At this reception two distinguished members of the legal community, Professor Randy Barnett and Simon Lazarus, will address the competing views on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Randy Barnett, Carmack Waterhouse professor of Legal Theory at Georgetown University Law Center, and Simon Lazarus, Public Policy counsel to the National Senior Citizens Law Center, have written extensively on the questions raised by the various court challenges to the ACA. Both have assisted in writing amicus briefs submitted to courts addressing the constitutional challenges. Professor Barnett is part of the legal team for the case decided by the Eleventh Circuit, now before the Supreme Court.

The January 12 reception will be an outstanding opportunity to experience an informative discussion between Randy Barnett and Simon Lazarus on the contentious issues relating to the constitutionality of the ACA pending before the Supreme Court.
