On Tuesday, December 13, the American Bar Association International Section and The Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia are co-sponsoring a program delving into International E-Discovery.

The lunchtime program will be located at the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 1200 New York Avenue in Washington, DC.

It will begin at noon and end at 1:30 p.m.

There are differences between the discovery processes carried out in the U.S. versus Europe. Attorneys cannot always be sure of the physical location of relevant information, and the rapid growth of cloud services increases the possibility that the server holding information in the U.S. today may be in Europe tomorrow. As business technologies continue to evolve, contractual relationships will be even more complex. Cloud services providers will likely contract with server-network providers who contract with companies that operate facilities containing the actual computers. Competitive pricing may lead to the frequent relocation of cloud service providers and thus information to sites with lower operating costs. Attendees will learn tips and strategies on dealing with this emerging issue by a panel of thought leaders in the e-discovery field.

The moderator is Bennett Borden, partner, Williams Mullen, and the panelists are Chris Dale, E-Disclosure Information Project; Judge Herbert B. Dixon, Jr., of DC’s Superior Court; John M. Facciola, U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia; and Stephen Mason, founder and editor, Digital Evidence and Electronic Signature Law Review.
