Join the Mid-American Chapter of Association of Corporate Counsel as they present The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly --How to Protect Your Brand with a Social Media Policy. The seminar is on Wednesday, November 9, atSwiss Re America Holding Company, 5200 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas. It begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

Savvy companies recognize the vast potential in social media for recruiting, hiring, retention, name recognition, credibility and public relations. But along with the exciting opportunities and social media success stories, there are plenty of horror stories. It's all too common to hear about the release of confidential customer data, regulatory violations and public-relations disasters, all resulting from employee and employer misuse of social media. While there is no foolproof way to eliminate all the risks, there are ways to minimize the potential pitfalls. The speakers will discuss how to craft the right social media policy for a large organization, how to implement it, and how to avoid confusion in implementation. The panelists will also point out areas of social media that appear to be presenting unexpected challenges to businesses, and provide tips on how participants can avoid the hazards and take advantage of all of the latest social media platforms.

The speakers are Meredith J. Rund and John A. Vering, partners, Armstrong Teasdale LLP.
