DRI Explores Toxic Torts

On Thursday and Friday, March 18 and 19, join the Voice of the Defense Bar as they look at developments in environmental torts.The program will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans, 500 Canal Street in New Orleans.

On Thursday, the program begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m. followed by a diversity networking reception. On Friday, the program also runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.On Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., DRI and the NOLA school are asking for volunteers to assist in a community service project - painting a New Orleans public school in Orleans Parish. Transportation to and from the hotel will be provided.

Attendees will learn of the significant liabilities toxic tort litigation presents for companies, not just on the legal front, but also in the court of public opinion. This forum will provide practical discussion and lessons learned from successful defense efforts and keep participants abreast of the legal and scientific developments in the environmental law area.

Speakers include Janet Y. Bivins, senior counsel, DuPont; Dr. Barbara D. Beck, Harvard University; Paul D. Clement, King & Spalding LLP; and Janell M. Pepper, assistant general counsel, 3M Company.
